Too Long

And no, I'm not referencing Kristen Wiig & Maya Rudolph at the Oscars.....although that was freaking hilarious. What I AM talking about is the (almost) WEEK its been since I've blogged! And believe you me, it wasn't for lack of wanting. It just got too dang busy 'round these here parts. I've got a lot of catching up to do, I mean, I STILL have to post about vday where I made a creme brulee. And our Houston experience. And the hubby's bday party. And my Oscar party. And, well you get the picture. That's not even taking into account the normal stuff like Pinterest Picks and Friday Faves and oh my! Awkward & Awesome Thursdays!! Man alive, ya'll better be ready for like a two post a day brain dump. But today I've got a French quiz to study for (bleh) so I'm gonna just leave you with what I wore last week on my hubby's bday. And maybe if you're lucky I'll post a little somethin' tonight too.

Trente-deux

Today is pretty much the 2nd best day in the year. Why you ask? And even if you didn't ask, you should have, so let me tell you - it's my hubby's bday!! (The 1st best day of the year is of course, my bday...Nov 7th...hint hint). Anyhoo, I've got a stellar gift for him -  STELLAR I tell you! But sadly it's not arriving until May. Sooooo we're gonna party like rockstars on Friday with a poker tournament and today we enjoyed a pretty scrumptious lunch at Blue Lemon, which reminds us just a bit of LA where we met. Have I told you that story? No? Oh well, another time then. But in homage to my beau's bday, enjoy some pics of our dating-ship and marriage. And be prepared...there are gonna be a ton of pics. Ready?

{Our first date - my sister still won't forgive him. And I quote: "Loss of cool points!"}

 {The Santa Monica Pier was one of our favorite places to go. And yes, he still makes me laugh}

{Ice Skating in Santa Monica = awesome}

{The awesome light display at LACMA}

{Freezing at dinner before the Shiny Toy Guns concert}

{Our first day in Costa Rica!!!!!}

{We ate Chinese Food out of an abandoned bus, then said a prayer we wouldn't die}

{The epitome of our body temperatures}

{On  the way up to Monteverde}

{We did some canyoning - which is something I never want to do again, but I love that I did once so I can say that I did}

{Dinner at PF Changs}

{We take mini golf very seriously}

{I can't even tell you how much we loved the beach}

{I'm telling you - we party like rockstars}

{You may not be able to tell, but there are elephants standing on their heads behind us! We heart the circus!}

{The AMAZING Annual Film Festival at our church}

{That year's theme was Alfred Hitchcock and the invitation said "Dressed to Kill." Soooo we did.}

{On tax day I found this awesome deal for airline tickets for $15 each way to Seattle....well to an airport a bit north of Seattle actually. Which means we had fun on planes, trains AND automobiles to visit my home town.}

{The cliche, but very necessary Pike's Place Pig picture}

{Our first baby: Meet Cooper}

{Our first air soft gun war. After a couple hours it was a draw. And yes, that is a Delorean in the background.}

{The night he popped the question!................and I said yes! - I know you were all holding your breath}

{So we sent out some announcements}

{Joe took me snowboarding for the first time ever.}

{Decided to give curling a try.}

{Coop got all growed up and graduated puppy class.}

{And a few months later we got ourselves hitched!}

Since redundancy isn't fun for anyone, the rest of our story up until now (ie. Wedding pics, Europe trip, Honeymoon, London's arrival, & etc) is on our family blog. http://joeandlauraengland.blogspot.com/

Happy Birthday my love! I couldn't ask for a better best friend and hubby. You've even started putting your dirty socks in the laundry. Woah. :) I love you!

I Want a Baby Elephant

It's so great when the hubby plans surprise dates. Especially when said surprise dates involve two of my favorite things: eating popcorn and baby animals. I'm pretty sure when the day comes that I get to have my own baby elephant my reaction will go something like this.

{The movie was playing at the Planetarium, so naturally I had to get electrocuted.}

{The movie was in IMAX 3D which means we will never again fully enjoy a movie on the very small big screen.}

{We're on Mars, no big deal.}

{And THEN, we waltzed into Blockbuster to rent a new Wii game and walked out with 35 new movies and 5 Jiffy Pops for 80 bucks! Turns out the store is going out of business. Ironically enough we did NOT walk out with a single Wii game.}

Snow, snow, snow, snow, SNOOOWW!

Without any warning at all, Utah decided to dump about 4" of snow last night. Luckily for us, we only needed to trudge through it for church. And of course for a teeny, tiny photo shoot with the pups. Other than that, it's a day full of movies, reading and skinny baked potato soup (which is seriously better than any other potato soup you've ever had. I'd bet my life on it).

Awkward & Awesome Thursday

So someone told me the other day "Laura, you're normal........for being weird." Let me tell you -  that is probably one of the truest statements ever made. Luckily, I've locked myself down an excellent beau who is stuck with my normal weirdness forever :)

{Jeans & Scarf: F21, Shoes: Target, Henley: JCPenny's}
Awkward:
  • Finding that whenever I have to talk to my {amazingly talented and beautiful} dance coach I can't form proper sentences and stand there babbling like an idiot.
  • This random guy at a truck stop legitimacy thinking that Joe {the hubby} was from Mexico and not letting it drop. It didn't help that Joe admitted he did speak Spanish fluently.
  • Accidentally hitting my dance partners butt on the way to another partner everyone got a good laugh and I even squeaked out an embarrassed giggle.
  • My face falling off (literally) from my facial last Friday and my new skincare regimen. I seriously want to carry around a sign that says: "I promise I am not a leper."
  • (If you're squeamish pass over this one, I sure wish I could). While at said truck stop, finding a bag of trucker poo and accidentally getting it on the tarp we were trying to cover the truck with. With the wind whipping I was praying as hard as I could that it would not touch me. Luckily the hubby and I were both safe, but Mr. Trucker, next time please at least find a dumpster.
Awesome:
  • Practicing my monologue for my acting class at school, which involved squeezing real tears out of my eyes and London hopping down from her nap on the bed to console me.
  • This MASSIVELY huge bruise I got on my inner thigh from snowboarding. I'm not kidding peeps, it was like the size of Antarctica.
  • After accidentally taking my dead Kindle all the way to Texas, finding a pay-by-the-minute charger in the airport on my way home. Score!
  • Even though the after effects of my facial and regimen is terrible, it is AWESOME that my step-mother-in-law took the time to help me out. I'm looking forward to the perfect skin that is underneath my painfully dying skin cells.

Cah-ra-zy

So when the hubby was STILL out of town last Saturday things got a wee bit cah-ra-zy around here. Let's take a look, shall we?

I got all cleaning happy and even took care of the shower and fridge. Woah.
Cleaning

When all was said and done the clean laundry started to eat my bed, so I put it in it's place. (ahahahahaha)
Laundry

Watching me do so much work tuckered the little buggers right out.
Nap time

I really* had to twist their arms (or is it legs?) to go to the dog park. [*insert sarcasm]
Dog park

We have GOT to teach our dogs how to do this - one dog has the other by his leash. So rad.
Dog park

Then I did some grocery shopping and got myself a snack fit for a 3-yr-old. I'm not gonna lie - it was delicious.
{Does this outfit look familiar? I cheated and took this pic on Sunday, cuz I had bought two of these yummy little snack packs and ate one then too :) }

When I was all done with my afternoon snack, I put on some hot pink lipstick for my hot date out with myself.
Pink

Turns out I am NOT a cheap date -$16 bucks later and I was all settled in for my sob-fest (which turned out to only be an eyes-slightly-water-fest).
Date night

And then it was off to bed with the pooches. I am still sleep deprived from them hogging the bed all night. It's a good thing they're so dang cute.
