Studying a stack of notecards that's about 2" thick. French sucks.

Friday Faves

This week my hubby left me for Sundance so I've only seen him when one of us is half asleep, which makes for zero conversations and somewhat sloppy kisses. But all of that changes tonight when I get to actually go on a date with him! I'm stoked to actually have a conversation with him face-to-face....especially since he's got such a cute one :) But enough of the gushy stuff - here are my favorite things this week:

Favorite Healthy Snack: Vanilla Greek Yogurt w/Honey

I had a bad experience with Greek yogurt in the past so it's taken me a really really long time and lots of purchased then thrown away yogurts for me to give it another chance. But now I'm addicted - mix any brand of vanilla (the more protein the better) with about a tbsp of honey and you won't go back to the normal stuff.

Favorite TV Show: Happy Endings

This show is like Friends & How I Met Your Mother combined. And possibly even better. Yeah - I said it.

Favorite Lipstuff: Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain

This stuff is the best stain EVER. It's basically like using a sharpie marker on your lips. Only it's not toxic and doesn't smell weird and it can come off with makeup remover.

Favorite Couture Photo:

I'm pretty sure if I owned this dress I would FIND an excuse to wear it. Do you think if I got all dolled up and crashed the red carpet I could get away with it? Maybe I could pretend to be Lady Gaga's OTHER alter ego.

Awkward & Awesome Thursday #3

Some days you just want to be done with. Not in an emo-my-life-is-so-terrible way, but in a geez-that-was-a-tough-sucker-and-im-pretty-pooped way. Yesterday was that day. I won't make you suffer through all the woe-is-me details but I'm happy to report that I figured out the cure: Popcorn, dog cuddling (the hubby was away for work) and PS I Love You. It's proven to get all the tears right outta your system so you can feel right as rain the next day. And I'm happy to say it worked like a charm :) Now onto today's main event: Awkward & Awesome Thursday!!

Awkward:

 - Asking a random chic where she got her shoes...I looked them up immediately and here they are, perfection on a stiletto, although they looked a lot better in person:

{They're sold out everywhere but ebay}

 - Finding a contact in my hubby's new phone named "wifey" that wasn't my number. (Don't worry, it turned out to be some dude and we're pretty sure he bought the phone and returned it so some of his data was still on there)

Awesome:

 - Going to my niece's Jr Miss competition and having one of the moms ask if I was one of the students. I wonder how long I can pull off looking 17.....
 - My sweet hubby agreeing to let the littlest nieces do his hair and almost having the 4 yr old put pierced earrings into his closed-for-ten-years holes.
 - Finding out from a random friend-of-a-friend that my hubby's band from like ten years ago is a huge hit in Hong Kong. Yeah, Socrates!

Dear Park City Resort Person:

Thank you for turning in my phone. You really are the best person ever. I owe you a big smooch. Or a hug. OR at least some awesome butterscotch pb cookies :)

Sincerely,

The girl who held it together while asking Information if a phone had been found and then turned into a blubbery mess in her car.

Butterscotch PB Cookies

I have a little problem. I don't bake the same recipe twice. EVER. Well, unless it's AMAZING. But it really has to knock my socks off. Enter Butterscotch PB Cookies. You'll love these. I promise. If you like butterscotch, that is. Enjoy!

{Recipe found here}

Butterscotch PB Cookies

1 stick softened butter
1/2 Cup brown sugar
1/2 Cup granulated sugar
1 1/4 Cups smooth peanut butter
1 Cup melted butterscotch chips
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/4 Cups all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1 Cup butterscotch chips

1.  Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.  Cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy.  Melt butterscotch chips over a double boiler until melted.  Add melted butterscotch chips and peanut butter to beaten butter and sugars.  Beat in egg and vanilla.

2.  Place flour, baking soda and salt in bowl; mix to combine.  Add to wet ingredients until just combined then pour in butterscotch chips.  Using a cookie scoop, scoop dough, roll in sugar then place onto baking sheet.  Press tops with tines of a fork if desired.  I did it both ways and both are great.  Bake for 9-11 minutes or until cookies are cooked through.  Remove and let cool for 5 minutes before transferring to cooling rack.

Weekly Pinterest Picks

To say last week was crazy would be a bit of an understatement. What did I learn from the experience? 22 credits is too many, French is super hard and confusing and has unnecessary formal/informal, masculine/feminine/plural components and I could be a Jr Miss judge. The hubby and I went up to watch my niece in her Jr Miss performance (she did awesome btw, and so did my hubby for sitting through 5 hours of 34 girls doing the same things over and over so they could be judged), and I picked all the winners (minus one)! But as a result of our trip I missed last week's Friday faves. But never fear, they will be back in t-minus 4 days. In the meantime, enjoy the weekly pinterest picks!

I can't tell whether I want to scarf this or throw up at the thought. It's a weird sensation.

Awkward & Awesome Thursday #2

Awkward:

 - Trying to remember how to do the right hip rolls in Samba, let me tell you it is not an easy task and I look ridiculous trying to figure it out again.
 - My French teacher asking me (in front of the class, mind you) how old my husband was and me replying that we've been married for two years.
 - Doing the awesome-est face plant while going down heel-side snowboarding yesterday.
 - Being passed on the bunny slope by bite-sized children on skis.
 - Cutting my own bangs too short after doing it right a million times before. It's been a week and they still haven't decided to cooperate. Thanks, guys.
 - Feeling old because I don't know how to appropriately use hash tags.

Awesome:

 - Finally getting the heel-side down the mountain thing and feeling pretty confident (minus the face plant).
 - Going to Rexburg tomorrow to see the fam and my awesome niece take on Jr Miss.
 - Making my school's ballroom dance team! WAHOO!
 - My cute husband who makes dinner for AND puts away the dishes after he's had a 11 hour work day because he knows I've had an even longer one.
 - A certain show (that shall not be named because it is WAY too embarrassing) is on tonight. YES.
 - The girl in my acting class not holding back and smacking the other guy across the face in their improv scene. #itwasawesome (.......was that right??)

2+1+2 = Fatigue

Right now I pretty much feel like this:

Why? Oh, well, I started dance practice today. And snowboarding. And I had my usual flexibility class. Basically from 7am to 3pm I was exerting physical energy. This on about 3 hours of sleep (I was so excited for all the new stuff!)

The result: shaking when I try to hold my phone....maybe protein isn't overrated after all.

The REAL result: being super duper happy that I'm finally dancing again and learning to snowboard. Both have been a long time coming.

Friday Faves....on Sunday

This week it's all about stellar beauty finds. And funnies from Pinterest (which I'm thinking about making a daily occurrence 'round these parts). And a super yummy recipe. So really its just all about awesome things (aka my faves). Let me introduce you to five things that WILL change your life - I guarantee it..............and no, I did not just say that last part in the voice of the Men's Warehouse commercials.

Numero Uno: Revlon's Grow Luscious Plumping Mascara

Revlon Grow Luscious Waterproof Plumping Mascara - Blackest Black.Opens in a new window

This stuff is seriously the best EVER. I'm a drugstore girl,  so I can't compare it to Mac or anything, but even if I did, I still think it would take the cake. And yes, I would put money on that statement.

Numero Dos: Oreo Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies

You 'eard me right. These babies will blow your MIND. I've made them a few times and they never EVER disappoint.

I am IN. No question mark.

Numero Quatro: L'Oreal Magic Souffle Foundation

L'Oreal Studio Secret Magic Smth Souffle.Opens in a new window
Again, it's from the drugstore. Again it is amazing. The name is no hyperbole, it really is magic. I happen to be cursed blessed with freckles which give me an uneven skin tone (at least that's what I tell myself). Anyhoo, I need full coverage when it comes to foundation, but I hate the caked on look when I pair liquid foundation with powder. [Enter Magic Souffle] I'm sure Clinique or Mac or Bobby Brown or Bare Minerals could do the job just as good and probably better, but this fits nicely in my budget and does a super duper good job.

Weekly Pinterest Picks

Is anyone as obsessed with Pinterest as much as I am? It was seriously like someone ninja-ed their way into my brain and found exactly what I didn't know I wanted. Now what am I going to do with all the files of random pictures on my computer? Somehow I'll find a way to pin them. But for now, here are my favorite pins of the week:

Holy Baloney! This is genius!

Pinned Image

Why do I love these so much? It makes me want to kick a guy in the groin after he's been chasing me with a gun down the street ala Alias.

Pinned Image

I'm pretty sure whenever I make these that I'll eat the ENTIRE batch. French Fries have always been my Achilles heel.

Pinned Image

I need an occasion to do my hair all side swept and barely wavey. Please also note that I love the pink lips. Anyone know of a super fancy party I can crash? ......No? FINE.

Tee Hee Hee....How can you not giggle like a little girl when you see this face? (Men included)

Awkward & Awesome Thursday #1

I've fallen in love with Syd's Awesome & Awkward Thrusdays. In LOVE people. So I've decided to adapt the practice since I swear there are both awkward & awesome things that happen to me every stinkin day. The trick is remembering them....

Awkward:

  • Doing a flexibility test in my flexibility class and having my partner and the teacher both go "woah!" Apparently I have a weirdly flexible lower back.
  • Being forced to act like a three year old in my acting class on campus. How...in....the....heck?!
  • Walking around this building on campus in circles looking for my classroom - why oh why do they not have building directories??
  • Forgetting my deodorant in the car and having to use the hubbys this morning. Don't worry I doused on lots of PINK body spray to cover the uber masculine scent.
  • Losing terribly in the game we played in French today - I'm pretty sure I was the person in the middle of the circle the most, which wasn't a good thing.
Awesome:
  • When all hope was lost, finding all my textbooks online for less than half the price they were at the bookstore - I saved about $300!
  • All my classes! Well, almost.....Intro to International Relations might turn out to be lame.
  • Finding out that auditions for the U of U Ballroom Dance Team are this Saturday! Wish me luck!
  • Going to the temple tonight.
  • These super duper yummy baked cheese taquitos I made for dinner last night. YUM.

New Year's Blog Re-Vamp

I'm kickin' off the New Year with a new version of The Daily It List! I've decided to simplify things a bit with a cleaner, sleeker look to the blog and shorter posts. Instead of making it focus only on fashion finds, music & photography, I'm going to make it more of an online journal of sorts. For example - current favs of mine, what's happening in my life, my weekly pinterest finds, baking adventures, and awkward & awesome Thursdays (c/o Syd @ The Daybook - which is one of the best blogs out there). I may start off posting every week, but eventually I want to post on a daily basis. But either way it'll be a fun little blurb on my fun little life. Hope you enjoy!
