Let's not even talk about the fact that the commercial was for Fiber One 90 calorie brownies. I immediately got off the couch and in ten minutes these brownies were baking in the oven. No changes to the recipe or anything, just simple boxed cheesecake brownies that I seem to have always had a soft spot for. And before I got a picture of all the scrumptiousness......they were gone. I have a serious problem people.

This is what happens when I see a brownie commercial on tv

Quick & Easy S'mores Cupcakes

Triple Berry Cake
So I saw THIS post the other day and knew that I would immediately be making such a cake. Only I upped the ante with the box cake and it turned out pretty delicious if I do say so myself. I added 1 c sour cream, 1 tsp vanilla and 1 1/2 tsp almond extract to the other ingredients listed on the back of the box. The only problem - I have NO freaking clue how she made the whip cream so smooth and perfect. I even added extra powdered sugar in attempts to make it stiffer and more frosting-like. But to no avail. And what's worse - the moment I cut into that sucker it collapsed onto the counter. AND we had guests....talk about embarrassing. But I salvaged a few pieces of goulash looking cake for everyone and we enjoyed the heap of berries and cream.

Breakfast for Dinner
Every once in a while growing up we'd have waffles for dinner and - It. Was. Awesome. I mentioned the idea to the hubby last week and he thought I was crazy. But I convinced him to give it a go, and he ate his words. Pretty much literally. We did a tad more than waffles and it became a regular Denny's around our place. (Or IHOP, whichever you prefer. Personally I think IHOP is always the way to go). I'm talking Bacon, Eggs, Hash browns (the McDonalds super processed and awesome type) and these pancakes with fresh raspberries and whip cream. The picture is a bit squishy, but there was so much food to get in there that Instagram didn't know what to do with itself.

The most awesomest weekend ever
I'm not gonna lie - our weekend was pretty rad. And we deserved it because lately our weekends have consisted of spring cleaning and the like. I was actually a good little blogger and took pictures but don't get used to it, I'm notorious for forgetting to snap a few shots here and there which is ironic because I used to be that girl who carried a camera in her purse and took a million pictures where ever she went. I blame the existence of the iphone, because it takes good, but not amazing pictures and I always want the latter so I sometimes refuse to use it, but then I also refuse to carry some archaic camera around in my purse. It seems we're at an impass, the camera world and I. But I digress. Without any further ado - the much spoken about and only "good" iphone instagram pics:
Friday we went on an awesome date to watch Back to the Future outside at a local ski resort. FYI: Watching a classic 80s flick in the mountains = awesome. If you're anywhere near Snowbird - check it out, they're doing 80s/90s movies all summer long, but make sure to bundle up...we had to rummage around in my car for a spare blanket to keep from becoming popsicles. We may have loaded up on snacks and as a result we may have felt a wee bit sick later, but it was worth it! The sad face is because the hubby MADE me eat an entire protein bar before gorging myself on pizza/crazy bread/chips/candy. The nerve, I tell you.
Saturday was a bit more grueling. The morning was spent registering for baby stuff at both my favorite and least favorite stores (Target being the former and Babies R Us being the latter). We still had to do our weekly grocery shopping run so we decided to take a break from life and run over to the gulley, which is this awesome little oasis park that no one seems to know about. We climbed down to this little stream and the hubby and pups splashed around while Baxter and I stayed out of the icy waters on the shore. Oh yes - and Baxter is the super adorable mini poodle we dog sat for the weekend. He liked me more than the hubby making him pretty much the best dog ever.
Sunday for lunch we made these a-mahzing bagel sandwiches that we've determined will be a Sunday lunch tradition. Just to make sure you're drooling - it's a toasted bagel with cream cheese, provolone cheese, feta cheese, (we like our cheeses apparently), avocado, cucumbers and romaine lettuce. The hubby also included roasted turkey and tomato slices for good measure.
Then we headed over to my father-in-laws to make him a Fathers Day Feast. Just in case you need to drool some more we made a true Sicilian meal c/o Giada. Included was Halibut Spiedini (we used the Tuna recipe but substituted in halibut the hubby, his dad & brothers caught in Alaska last year), a Mediterranean Salad with the almost impossible to find Israeli Couscous, and my favorite part - the Italian Lemonade. I also attempted to make these cookies for dessert, but when a recipe calls for the juice of one lemon it should specify that it should be a small, not a large, lemon because my frosting turned into a glaze. I was out of powdered sugar so there wasn't much I could do and I ended up just drizzling it on top which worked, but they weren't amazing. I need a do-over with plenty of powdered sugar on hand to make the real deal.
I also got the chance to call my own pops for Fathers Day, and it's always so great to talk to him. He taught me so much growing up and I am so lucky to call him my dad. I'll always be a daddy's girl and love that man to pieces.

Sweet Tooth
I've always had a sweet tooth. I blame my mom - we went on "candy runs" since I was four and it was always so magical. I still pull the white wrapper taut to see what flavors of Mambas are inside (although they're onto us and now use extra thick wrappers so you can't tell if you have that perfect Orange, Raspberry, Strawberry pack or if you got a dud with a Lemon......which I totally did the other day). And I remember going through tons of those Necco Tart packs to find the ones with the most oranges and pinks. Oh and circus peanuts! How could I forget you? Well anyway, I've always loved me some sweets and it turns out Orange Seed is no different. I've tried somewhat successfully to cut back on the sugars since putting on and working off my "Freshman 15" in college (somewhat being the key word) but since I've been knocked up I can't get enough sugar. We're talking about the I'll-do-anything-for-something-sweet type of high that can get you in trouble with the dentist. So the other day I made my own version of these lemonade cupcakes with raspberry frosting I mentioned last week and since the recipe needs to be tweaked to be perfect (I mean...those are some FLAT cupcakes), I won't share how I made them...but perfect or not those babies are getting gobbled up by yours truly. Although I'm still blaming the little guy for my actions....and there's not too much he can do about it [Insert evil laugh here].

The best 1940s day of my life
Last week the hubbys friend asked if I would play dress up for a day for a spec shoot he was directing. Well let me tell you - I would have paid him to participate. It was amazing! I even wore a vintage dress and shoes from the '40s, had my hair done all pretty like and got to try my hand at vintage makeup. I even got a 1940's husband and child. The husband part was only awkward when my actual hubby stopped by to say hello. AND to top it all off said friend of hubby's shot the whole scene with the Red camera....which according to the hubby is a big freaking deal. The only downside was the fact I couldn't breath due to the control top pantyhose and spanx I wore to slim down my teeny baby bump. But who needs breathing when your fake husband comes home from the war to you and your fake child?

A good laugh
Or.....I guess a little chuckle if you're not as funny as I am. Well, I guess Pinterest is the one responsible for all the funny-ness. Semantics.

Prego-ness
There is just too much creativeness out there. Especially on Pinterest. And said creativeness overwhelms me with everything I just NEED to do in order to capture this awesome point in my life. Maybe I can do a couple ideas with each child. Because there is no way I can do this all with little Orange Seed. And even if I could, imagine how all the other little seeds would feel if the orange little dude got all the creative coolness. At least that's what I'm telling myself in order to preserve my sanity and not feel like I'm failing as a soon-to-be mother hen. So now I just need to decide which of these little gems I end up doing while ballooning up like an elephant.

Strawberry Fields
If any of you know me from Facebook (which I'm guessing is all of you), then you may have seen my post yesterday about making 9 strawberry desserts this week. Winco happened to be having a killer sale and the 2lb packages were only $1.48!!! Holy crap, is that even possible?! Whelp, here are the contenders for what I'm going to do with these tasty little gems of a deal. Turns out I'm only making 7 strawberry desserts, because 2 happen to be either something blackberry or something raspberry. Oh and 1 something key lime, but it's totally not what you think. So I kinda lied to you, sorry. I'll make sure to make it up to you by bringing you some of this deliciousness. If you live within 5 miles of me, that is.
{Strawberries dipped in marshmallow creme and torched. Pinned here, although it says frosting}
{Lemon Blackberry Cheesecake. I'm pretty sure I'm making this first. And maybe I'm also drooling right now....don't tell anyone}
{Doing this with strawberries on top instead of cherries - Mini Strawberry Cheesecakes}
{Strawberry Cupcakes w/Strawberry Frosting....not to be confused with those made with Strawberry-Lime frosting...pshhh - obviously they're SOOOOOO different}
