Mustaches for Babies

Okay, so this is for reals. I got my first order last week and shipped it off in brown paper package tied up with string. You already know this mustache binky is one of my favorite things. But now it comes with three interchangeable styles. And a cute baby.

Okay, not really the baby.

Check it out at my Etsy shop here!

Holden @ 2 Months

 - Whenever we lay you down on your activity mat you look over to the mirror and proceed to giggle. You must be one funny baby. And you must get it from your mom.
 - When you're trying to wake up you do the most adorable little grunts and snorts. I hope that never goes away.
 - You've started to focus on objects. Namely your left fist.
 - You now follow my voice or dad's voice around the room....all the way from one side to the other.

{Standing with a teeny tiny bit of balance help from Mom!}

-You LOVE the camera on my phone when the screen is pointed at you and you can see yourself. Most adorable thing ever. Also slightly worrisome.
 - You're starting to laugh in response to us tickling you or squishing your cute little cheeks.
 - You've also started to move your mouth when we stick our tongues out at you and sometimes you get your little tongue out too.
 - For five glorious nights you slept 7-8 hours straight. We called it a Christmas miracle until the 6th night when you turned into a crabbypants and woke up mad every two hours. We figured out it was all the caffeine I was drinking and now you're back to the standard 4-6 hours. But last night you slept for 9.5 hours so maybe we'll have a New Years miracle and not ruin it with Coke.

 - When you laugh it sounds like a dolphin squeaking and it makes me and your pops laugh every time.
 - On the flip side, when you cry you now produce real true tears that break your mom's heart.
 - Oh yeah, and no big deal, but last night you ROLLED over. Intentionally. Twice. It was from your stomach to your back (you're working really hard to roll back the other way via your left side) - but still it's impressive and don't you let anyone tell you differently.

Holden @ 1 Month

So since this is a journal of sorts I'm going to try and document H's progress every month. Just little things, really, but things that I'm bound to forget as time goes on. And this way I'll have plenty of documentation to pull out when he's 16 and I want to embarrass him with his first date {insert evil laugh here}.

 - At your 1 Month check-up you were 8 lbs 15 oz & 22.5 inches, which means you've grown almost a pound & 2 more inches.
 - You have such a strong neck & legs - even the doctor commented on it - which means I may or may not but definitely have already looked into soccer leagues and what age you can start playing :)
 - You absolutely LOVE the map above our couch and stare at it pretty much every day:

 - These days you're babbling a bit, which is so dang cute.
 - Typically you love to sleep at night (4-6 hours at a time!) and at bed time you put your swaddled self to sleep no problem, but not during the day unless I'm holding you.
 - You love your car seat which is GREAT for us since we travel so much.
 - Your eyes are looking more blue every day......which would be great except for the fact that I bet your Dad a week's worth of poopy diapers that they'd be hazel like his.

 - You are honestly one of the best babies I've known....and I did quite a bit of baby sitting in my day! You are usually just happy and content on your own and although you have your fussy/tantrum-y moments, they're pretty rare.
  - Your smile still melts my heart. Especially the other night when we were up at 4am and I was rocking you back to sleep and you were starting to fall asleep on my chest and you spit out your pacifier, threw your head back to look at me and smiled for a good 10 seconds. My mommy tear ducts didn't stand a chance.

I guess Holden wasn't ready for his close up

.....But I got a few shots anyway. The little bugger made me promptly decide never to shoot newborns again. And kudos to anyone who can successfully pull it off. I mean, seriously. I would wait an hour holding H in the same position so he'd fall asleep in a cute little pose like the many I've pinned to my Pinterest board. And then the moment I tried to take the photo he'd wake up. So after a couple weeks of getting one shot here and there I called it good.

The last three weeks with lots and lots of pictures

First off - SO terribly sorry for the lack of bloggage around here. To be completely frank it's been a bit of a rough adjustment and I've spend most days trying to stop the roller coaster of hormones and recovery sickness from taking over my life. I'm not always that successful (I cried when my hubby told he he'd take me to In-N-Out for lunch yesterday), but it's not for lack of trying! I know this is a beautiful and amazing part of my life and I couldn't be more grateful for little H to be in our lives. But sometimes things can be amazing and hard at the same time. Luckily for me I have an amazing support system of family and friends who have helped me out & an even more amazing (if that's possible) hubby who never lets a day go by without telling me I'm pretty rad for tackling this whole motherhood thing. And now for the onslaught of pictures - I included more from the delivery/birth that I should have posted in H's birth story. Maybe one day I'll go back and change that. Maybe.

Checking in.

Oh yeah....they had me on oxygen too......not the funnest.

Hello baby!

Proud papa....

...and mama.

My sis and bro-in-law came to visit...

...and brought goodies from the whole fam (thanks everyone!)

Learning to multi-task as a new mama.

His going home outfit is WAY cuter in real life. Promise.

My bro and (now-yay!) sis-in-law visiting. Dear brother looks like he's about to eat H, but really he was just crying with him. Or at least that's what he led us to believe....

The first post-hospital sponge bath.

My son likes to flip me off on a daily basis. I'm trying not to take it personally.

My bday! The hubby spoiled me with a mini little shopping spree and Red Velvet Cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory (my favorite). He's pretty much the greatest. And this is only one of lotsa pictures we have of London photobombing. It's a serious Lady & the Tramp syndrome over here.

And then my cute little niece wanted to make sure I had a bday party complete with doughnuts and party hats. Pay no attention to the baby reaching for the baked goods....we had no idea until we looked at the photo. She's pretty much Alias.

Grams!

4 Generations  - my daddio and my (middle) namesake Grandma.

Two other adorable nieces and my amazing Aunt Holly.

So glad I wasn't the only one making a funny face. That would have been awkward.

Picking out H's first Christmas tree!!
